Cinématic Café: Shade
Date: 16 November 2014
Venue: Café Gossip (Minato-ku, Tokyo)
Focusing on the depth of ‘shade’ which is the ambiguous part between light and shadow, the session was to suggest hints on how to capture shades in the process of conceiving、creating and appreciating artworks and architecture. Architect’s words and works about ‘shade’ in terms of ‘material’, ‘space’ and ‘time’ were introduced.
Especially, the theory of ‘time’ was emphasised as Cinématic Architecture Tokyo gives importance to dealing with film and architecture in cross-section. By taking the expression of shading as a narrative work of light and shadow, the possibility that stories appear across the language barrier was mentioned. In the later discussion, we all could get to a deeper level of the idea.
