WORKSHOP: Cinématic TOKYO
About five months program took place had three phases pre-session, workshop and exhibition as a filmic experiment on urbanism and architectural Design.
In the pre-session, there were talks about the difference between cinematic architecture and architectural film, art and architecture, enchantment of light and shadow and film technique. Then, in the workshop attendants were asked to choose one from Tokyo Motorway, Nakagawa River in Sumida-ku or anywhere in Tokyo and they made works by taking ideas from cinematic language as two and three-dimensional expressions.
Eventually, a work architectural machine with function in urban space, experimental films and poems about the city of Tokyo and urban planning proposals came out. The works were exhibited in a gallery in Ginza and it has been criticised by invited guests and visitors. That made us all recognise the whole process objectively.
